Let me first say I was never a huge Country Music fan. This is no knock on this genre but I didn’t grow up in an environment where the music was played. Don’t get me wrong, I actually learned to appreciate Johnny Cash as an artist about 15 years ago. He was a deep individual. Fast forward to 2012 and a show called Nashville aired on ABC. I happened to be flipping the channel and stopped on it for a quick view. Yes, Hayden Panettiere is easy on the eyes but that’s not enough for me to watch a series.
As a music fan, several songs played during this particular episode caught my attention. It was refreshing to later find out that the majority of the cast actually sing/perform the songs. As I continued to watch Season 1, my appreciation for County Music heightened. Maybe the acting and storyline that was filled with emotion, passion and intensity assisted me in newfound admiration for Country Music.
Five years later, I still enjoy watching Nashville and the Music shared on the show. I also ventured out on Youtube and researched other Country Songs, Singers and found a few tracks I really appreciate. See with music, you have to have an open mind and give other genre’s a chance. Don’t get me wrong, I always respected Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson and Garth Brooks. If you would have asked me just six years ago my thoughts on Country Music, it would be totally different than where it is today.
