THE RZA – Where does he RANK?

    in Music is Life

When I think about the word PRODUCER, I often reflect on the greatness of THE RZA. On various Hip Hop Boards/Websites I’ve seen numerous fans Top 5-10 Producers list and some omit THE RZA. I scratch my head at the notion of any Top 10 Producer list in Hip Hop/Rap without THE RZA. His vision alone was almost second to none. That, also with the fact that he produced Wu Tang’s 36 Chambers, Raekwon’s Only Built For Cuban Linx, Method Man’s TICAL, GZA’s Liquid Swords, Ghostface’s IRONMAN, ODB’s Return To The 36 Chambers, and Triumph from Wu Tang’s FORVER album in a 5 year span. Now, none of this is to take anything away from 4th Disciple and Tru Master (Even DECK) who made beats for Wu Tang during their legendary run. So, for the sake of debate, please answer the following questions:

    1. Where would you rank RZA on the All Time List?

    2. What is your favorite RZA BEAT?

    3. What is your favorite album that RZA Executive Produced?

    4. Is RZA overrated or UNSUNG?

    5. Does he have one last GREAT project in him?

My Verdict: RZA is a Top 5 Producer of all time in Hip Hop. OB4CL is his best produced album to me. RZA is not overrated in the least. I can’t decide on my favorite RZA beat and I think he could have another great project if he was 100% focused which will never be the case again.
